UCT's birthday was celebrated here a couple months back. It's my first time dining at Chow Yhang Restaurant and it proved to be a treat!
Hubby's uncle (a regular here) ordered the deep fried yam ring. I don't fancy yam, but the stir fried chicken and vegetable filling was pretty good.
We also had the braised pork ribs in honey sauce which was superbly tender, moist and tasted faintly of star anise and cinnamon. Very succulent, very tasty.

We had a whole crispy duck (RM35.00) which was deep fried and then placed upon a soy-based gravy. The meat was a tad dry in certain parts, but the skin was delightfully crispy on the parts that did not touch the gravy. I would have preferred this dish served without the gravy. I love duck in all forms, but crispy is definitely the best way to go!
4 varieties of beans stir fried with sambal belacan. This dish I loved. The sambal belacan used here was more potent than that from other restaurants and the dish had a slightly sour taste (probably from some freshly squeezed lime juice). I absoltely enjoyed this piquant dish.
Steamed patin in soy sauce. The fish was a tad under-steamed here, and there wasn't enough gravy, methinks. This dish could have done with some improvements.
And since hubby's aunt was a big fan of salted egg yolk, we added an order of prawns fried in salted egg style. The crustaceans were coated with wet, thick, salted egg yolk batter. Sinfully delicious!
