We were in Mid Valley Megamall yesterday.....looking at potential banquet venues with emphasis on VERY SEDAP FOOD (above anything else)! After that, we went window shopping and food browsing.....and before we knew it, it was 10pm-ish.
Out of curiosity, we dropped by at the new (not sure how new it is, since I rarely go to Mid Valley) Mr. Ho's Fine Foods Deli under Jaya Jusco (shares same location as the booze section of Jaya Jusco). It was past 10 by then, and whadya know.....they were having daily clearance of their cooked meats.....smoked sausages and bbq babyback ribs were all going at 50% discount. So we decided on the last rack of babyback ribs left there...it weighed in at RM21 (RM6.99/100g) before discount. The lady at the counter asked if we wanted it....oh what the heck, at RM10.50 (after discount), it was a steal! So she went and poured extra bbq sauce on it and foil-wrapped it twice....and when the price tag got printed, it was RM26.70 (before discount)! We asked why the sudden jump in price, she attributed it to the sauce and foil wrap. Sigh. Suckers that we were, we ended up paying RM13.35 (after 50% discount) for the whole shebang.....almost RM3 more than expected, for sauce and aluminium foil! Lesson learned. It was a bit of a rip off........but at least we got to satisfy our rib cravings.....
Today's dinner.....
After reheating in the oven, the ribs were a bit chewy, could have been more tender.
The requisite vegetable dish.....this time it's stir-fried spinach with garlic.
