Kinnaree Gourmet Thai Restaurant & Bar, Bangkok

We were told that this was the second best Thai restaurant in Bangkok, and so we had our Christmas 2008 dinner here. The pathway leading to this restaurant was lined with bamboo trees, which provided it a touch of nature. The ambience of this restaurant was rather cosy, awashed with a soft yellow glow.

A deep fried samosa for appetizer.
Kinnaree Wings aka deep fried marinated chicken wings (THB120) was a simple yet tasty dish. They sure use alot of lotus flowers here, almost every dish came decorated with a lovely pink bloom.
Tom Yum Gung with river prawns (udang galah), a big pot for the 6 of us (THB380). The prawns could have been fresher, but the soup itself was very good, with just the right level of spicyness.
Yam Mamuang Pla Duk Fu aka fresh mango salad with crispy shredded cat fish and cashew nuts (THB220). The cat fish tasted more like keropok, having been deep fried and shredded beyond recognition, and since my appetite was still suffering from the tummy bug, I could not down too much of this oily dish.
I did, however, love the pickled mango dressing that came with the cat fish. Sweet and sour tanginess personified!
Pla 2 Nam or Fish Two Ocean (THB380) was the quaint name of this dish, which was basically a combination of steamed seabass in spicy lime sauce and deep fried seabass with sweet and spicy tamarind sauce. This was definitely a crowd pleaser.
Phad Phak aka stir fried mixed vegetables (THB140) was another simple dish prettily decorated with a lotus blossom.
Moo Phad Prig Thai Dum aka stir fried pork in black pepper sauce mixed with a variety of Thai herbs (THB220). I liked the tenderness of the meat and the peppery spicyness of this dish.
The meal came up to THB2071.52 for the 6 of us.
